The long-awaited technology for measuring deceleration has arrived, and we, togeather with experts and scientists in the field, are actively exploring the links between deceleration capabilities, agility, knee injuries, and fatigue.

Tests for deceleration abilities

The 5-0-5 test assesses athletes acceleration, deceleration and change-of-direction abilities on both left and right side. 

KPI Examples:

  • Total time left/right (s)
  • Average deceleration left/right (m/s²)
  • Early and late acceleration/deceleration (m/s²)
  • Max speed (km/h)
  • Re-acceleration (m/s²)

An acceleration–deceleration ability (ADA) test is used to assess players’ maximal horizontal deceleration ability by sprinting 20 metres before doing a hard stop.

KPI Examples:

  • Time to stop (s)
  • Distance to stop (m)
  • Average acceleration and deceleration (m/s²)
  • Early and late acceleration/deceleration (m/s²)
  • Percentage of Max speed achieved (%)
