Test: Max Speed Test 10/20/30 m
What is a Max Speed Test?
A max speed test measures an athlete’s peak sprinting speed over a short distance, capturing the highest velocity reached. With Photon Sports, this test is performed with a flying start, where the athlete runs past the Photon Sports unit into a linear sprint over a preset distance of 10, 20, or 30 meters, tracking their peak speed with high accuracy.
Why test Max Speed?
Athletes should test their max speed velocity to identify strengths and weaknesses in their sprinting performance and set a baseline for future comparison, for benchmarking against other athletes and to track progress during return-to-play after injury. Testing and developing peak speed not only helps improve overall speed capabilities but is also a key indicator of an athlete’s explosive power. It provides valuable insights for tailoring training programs and to get athletes prepared for high-speed demands.
Track athlete's max velocity over time, or benchmark to others
Photon Sports’ unique technology captures you speed with 60 data points per second, recording the max speed not just on one given point, but whenever it occurs during the entire test lane. Compare your athletes top speed to their team mates or other benchmarks for a better understanding.

Other Speed & Acceleration Tests
Our 3D technology tracks centre of body mass with 60 hertz resolution giving split times every 10 centimetres. That equivalent to 300 timing gates on a 30 m sprint presenting the complete picture on your speed and acceleration.
