Test: Repeated Sprint 6x30 m
What is repeated sprint ability (RSA)?
Repeated Sprint Ability (often shortened RSA) is the capacity of an athlete to perform multiple short-duration, high-intensity sprints with minimal rest in between, maintaining speed and power throughout. It measures an athlete’s ability to resist fatigue during intermittent sprinting efforts, crucial in sports like football, basketball, and hockey where players frequently engage in repeated bursts of maximal effort.
Why test repeated sprints?
Testing RSA helps determine an athlete’s endurance, anaerobic power, and recovery efficiency during high-intensity activities. It provides valuable insights for optimizing training, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and enhancing performance in sports requiring sustained high-intensity efforts over time.
How to conduct a repeated sprint ability test
Testing repeated sprint ability with Photon Sport is simple! Just use the built-in measurement tool to set up a 30-meter sprint test, put on a vest, and get ready. The system will automatically start each sprint, giving the athlete 30 seconds of rest between sprints.
Other Speed & Acceleration Tests
Our 3D technology tracks centre of body mass with 60 hertz resolution giving split times every 10 centimetres. That equivalent to 300 timing gates on a 30 m sprint presenting the complete picture on your speed and acceleration.
